Chris Carson, an experienced yet exhausted first-responding police officer, is teamed up with a new recruit Rachel Hargreaves, while working night shifts in Liverpool. The responder is repeatedly faced with moral dilemmas at work and in his personal life, while striving to do good on both fronts. The sleep-deprived officer battles stress and anxiety, which is reflected in his bouts of anger and aggression.
